Thanksgiving is only days away! The most delicious day of the year. If you’re still looking for an easy appetizer to make for your feast, this is the recipe for you. This recipe for Cranberry Balsamic and Brie Crostini combines a Thanksgiving favorite and creamy brie. What more could you want?
I have not met a carb I didn’t like. Like Oprah said in her Weight Watchers commercial, I LOVE BREAD! Rather than buying my regular crusty loaf on my weekly shopping trip, I decided to try my hand at baking my own. Surprisingly, it was not that hard to make. The hardest part was being patient and waiting for it to be ready. Between mixing, proofing, and baking, the entire process took a little over two and a half hours.
Friends, Family, Kitchen Curious readers – you may have noticed that Kitchen Curious has been noticeably quiet the past few months. The reason is a major life event got in the way.
On September 30th, Burke and I got married! Wedding planning, the wedding diet (no thanks!), and all that comes with it was a wonderful, stressful, and busy process. I am so happy that is over and we had an incredible wedding! I will share more on our wedding very soon, but now back to reality…
For the past year, I have been writing, cooking, and photographing for Kitchen Curious all by myself. I have a husband now, and we cook almost every night together. I figured why not add Burke to the Kitchen Curious team. He loves cooking almost as much as I do, and we love to try to perfect recipes together. Moving forward, he will be making occasional appearances to the blog.
But wait – there is more! I have a circle of friends who love to cook, write, take photos, and most importantly, EAT! Periodically I am going to be tapping into these amazing people for their contributions.
So what does this mean for you, loyal readers? It means more content, entertaining ideas, fresh perspectives, and tons of delicious recipes.
More to come soon…
Wedding Photography by our friend, the insanely talented Eric Floberg.
This past weekend was spent celebrating my fiance Burke’s (the guy above with the chicken wings) birthday, which of course included LOTS of food. He had been talking about wanting pancakes for a good two weeks, so I got up before work on his birthday and made him special pancakes. Not only were they delicious buttermilk pancakes, but I added in rainbow sprinkles and topped with a mound of whipped cream for some extra birthday specialness.
New year, new soup recipe! This recipe for Spicy Cauliflower Rice Soup took a bit of experimenting and I am so happy with the way it turned out. I knew I wanted to make something that had a little heat to warm me up in the dead of winter, but also something fairly healthy. The result was this tomato-based, vegetarian soup with a little kick.
Happy belated 2017 everyone! We are a little over 2 weeks into the new year, and it is about time I post to Kitchen Curious and recap the highlights 2016.
Chocolate, peanut butter and marshmallows make for one tasty treat. Peanut Butter Chocolate Rice Crispies are so good, I dare you to eat just one! Since it is fall and I wanted to make a seasonal treat, I used an acorn shaped cookie cutter for a little extra cuteness.
If you’ve felt like the blog has been pretty quiet lately, you’re right. Between my real job being hectic and the holiday season starting to ramp up, I just haven’t prioritized making recipes to put on the blog. Life gets a little crazy sometimes and it takes some extra effort to 1) cook a meal and 2) cook something that is fairly healthy to eat.
More often than not, I overindulge on the weekends. Between Friday and Sunday, I had buffalo wings, beers, chinese, tacos and a few other treats. While I don’t feel bad about eating all that, I am all about balance in my diet. I crave healthier things after a few days of stuffing my face. That’s why I make things like these Turkey, Feta & Couscous Stuffed Peppers. They are the perfect healthy Monday night meal after a weekend of indulging.
