This past weekend was spent celebrating my fiance Burke’s (the guy above with the chicken wings) birthday, which of course included LOTS of food. He had been talking about wanting pancakes for a good two weeks, so I got up before work on his birthday and made him special pancakes. Not only were they delicious buttermilk pancakes, but I added in rainbow sprinkles and topped with a mound of whipped cream for some extra birthday specialness.
The real birthday celebration came on Saturday when we did “Burke’s Birthday Wing Crawl.” Burke’s family and friends came together and we went to three different restaurants in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago to try their wings, complete with a scorecard. All in all, we ordered and ate 110 wings between the three different places, and the Bird’s Nest’s wings were our favorite. The had the perfect meat to bone ratio, an amazing buffalo sauce and crispy skin. SO good. I already want more now! If you are interested in doing your own wing crawl, you can use our scorecard for a little inspiration.
